1983年11月、池田大作SGI（創価学会インタナショナル）会長により設立された総合美術館。コレクションは、日本・東洋・西洋の各国、各時代の絵画・版画・写真・彫刻・陶磁・漆工・武具・刀剣・メダルなど様々なジャンルの作品約30,000点を収蔵しています。

This art museum was established by Daisaku Ikeda, Chairman of Soka Gakkai International (SGI), in November 1983.
The museum has a collection of approximately 30,000 works, including pieces from Japan as well as other Asian and Western countries, and spanning many genres including paintings, woodblock prints, photographs, carvings, pottery, lacquerware, armor, swords, medals, etc.

ルネサンス時代からバロック・ロココ・新古典主義・ロマン主義を経て、印象派・現代に至る西洋絵画500年の流れを一望できる油彩画コレクションと、写真の誕生から現代までの写真史を概観できる写真コレクションは当館最大の特徴となっています。

This museum is noteworthy for its collection of European-stye oil paintings spanning 500 years, from the Renaissance style to baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism, Romanticism, etc. At the same time, it is also noted for its photography collection stretching from the birth of photography to modern photographic works.
