日本初の練り歯磨き「福原衛生歯磨き石鹸」を発売。歯磨き石鹸は歯磨きを固形状に練り固めたもので、湿らせた歯ブラシで表面を擦り取って使いました。それまで日本ではでは粉歯磨きしかありませんでした。

In 1888, the first solid-form toothpaste, known as “Fukuhara Hygienic Solid Toothpaste”, was introduced in Japan. It required a moistened toothbrush to scrape some substance off of the surface. Prior to this, Japan only had powdered toothpaste.
