Origin of Juntendo
【発祥年】天保9（1838）年
佐藤泰然がこの地、薬研堀で蘭学塾「和田塾」を開き、蘭学を教えると同時に西洋医学による治療を行ったのが順天堂のはじまりです。
【Birth Year】1838
Taizen Sato started a private school called Wadajuku in this area which was then called Yagenbori. He taught Dutch studies and practiced Western medicine in this predecessor to today's Juntendo University.
