【発祥年】元文3（1738）年
山城国宇治田原郷屋谷の住人永谷宗七郎が、青製の煎茶製造に成功。山本嘉兵衛その上品なるを認め、これに「天下一」の号を附して市販したところ、大人気となり、青製煎茶が知れわたりました。
【Birth Year】1738
In 1738 Soshichiro Nagatani, a merchant from Kyoto's Uji area, successfully developed sencha, an unfermented form of green tea. After giving the tea high marks for its exquisite flavor, Kahei Yamamoto successfully marketed it as "TENKA-ICHI, the world's finest tea," paving the way to its widespread popularity.
