(one of Japan's Top 100 Castle)

小田原に本拠をおいた小田原北条氏の三代目、氏康の三男、北条氏照が築いた関東屈指の山城です。
戦国末期の石垣をはじめとする山城の様相を遺し、御主殿跡や古道などが復元され、戦国時代の山城を体感することができます。

This castle, built by Hojo Ujiteru, third son of Hojo Ujiyasu of the Odawara Hojo clan, is known as one of the Kanto region's best mountain castles. Experience the atmosphere of a Warring States Period mountainside castle, with its stone walls dating back to the latter Warring States Period, reconstructed gardens, and old regional road.

石畳や石垣は、発掘によって確認された当時のものをなるべく活用し、破損していた個所についても、できるだけ当時の形に忠実な復元がされています。
山頂本丸付近には、八王子の地名の由来でもある八王子神社の社殿があります。麓には、八王子城跡ガイダンス施設があり、甲冑(かっちゅう)体験や北条氏と城の歴史を知ることができます。

The stone paving and stone walls have been reconstructed as closely as possible to the original, taking clues from the excavation process. The Hachioji Shrine (from which the area gets its name) building is located in the Sancho Honmaru area. At the base, voice guidance is offered on the Hachioji castle ruins, where visitors can learn about the Hojo clan and its history, as well as about armor.
